Karen Eseta Mulitalo was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah and is an Associate Professor at the University of Utah Department of Family andPreventive Medicine. Karen earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from theUniversity of Utah and graduated from the University of Utah PhysicianAssistant Program in 1996 and earned her Master’sDegree in 2003. Prior to her work at the University of Utah from 2014-2019, Karen worked in PA education for 20 years and has experience as teaching faculty at various institutions including the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and the University of Florida. In 2007 she became the Director of the first PhysicianAssistant Studies Program in Australia at the University of Queensland in Queensland, Australia. She spent four years developing and adapting a PA curriculum for the context of the Australian health care system. Clinically, her interests are family practice, health disparities in Pacific Islander and other underserved populations.Other interests include Pacific Islander health, healthcare workforce diversity and the development of the PA profession internationally with particular interest in the Pacific region.
